On Wednesday 29 January, colleagues from VolkerLaser took part in two volunteering initiatives, supporting Good Shepherd Wolverhampton and Nash Dom CIC.

These opportunities, organised for colleagues based at our M6 Bescot Viaduct site, allowed our team to give back to the local community in meaningful ways.

Two VolkerLaser colleagues, joined by two members from our client, National Highways, volunteered at Good Shepherd Wolverhampton, assisting with their hot meal service.

The Good Shepherd Wolverhampton is dedicated to ending homelessness, supporting recovery, and creating pathways out of poverty. Since 2023, the charity has provided regular food service in the city, recently expanding to include a day centre, activity programme and supported lettings schemes.

Meanwhile, six VolkerLaser colleagues took part in Nash Dom community hub clean-up campaign in Walsall. Nash Dom CIC is a community support and business development centre, that offers essential services to help individuals and families ā€“ particularly those from Eastern European and Russia-speaking backgrounds, in integrating into the local community.

ā€œI get plenty of job satisfaction from my day-to-day role, but nothing is as rewarding as seeing our team engage with local community schemes. The Good Shepherd Wolverhampton is an incredibly well-run service by a dedicated team of volunteers that provide support to those in need, while the Nash Dom community hub clean-up campaign is another great initiative run by volunteers to tackle litter in the local area. Iā€™d like to say a special thank you to our workforce and our client, National Highways for eagerly volunteering in the local community, and to those who have helped organise these opportunities.ā€
