VolkerLaser volunteers dig deep for KEMP hospice garden revamp

Five VolkerLaser colleagues recently spent the day volunteering for KEMP Hospice in the Wyre Forest.

This remarkable organisation provides specialist care and emotional support to patients, families, and carers facing life-limiting illness and bereavement. At the heart of their work is the KEMP Day Hospice - a welcoming hub where individuals can access compassionate care in both one-to-one and group settings.

Our team was greeted by the incredible volunteers and staff at KEMP, who gave them a tour of the hospice and an insight into the extraordinary work they do. After the warm welcome, the team headed into the garden to help refresh and revitalise an outdoor area that provides tranquillity and enjoyment to both patients and visitors.

Working alongside KEMP’s garden volunteers,  the team tackled several tasks, including; clearing away broken pots and damaged garden furniture, replanting and watering new plants, and painting flower beds.

“The volunteers from VolkerLaser have made a huge difference to our gardens, adding plant boxes to the front entrance and planting sensory plants which provide scents and textures that can comfort hospice patients, stimulate memories, enhance emotional well-being, and provoke discussion and social interaction. It was a delight having you here, and you have left having made a difference to many people's lives. Thank you for all your hard work and support. “

Katy Lush, one of our volunteers, shared:
“From the beginning, the staff and volunteers at KEMP Hospice were very welcoming and so grateful to us for what we did. We worked with their own volunteers to improve the space. It was a lovely day, and we got to talk to some patients too. I would love to revisit sometime and am very glad we were able to make a difference.”

Jonathan Krastev, another VolkerLaser volunteer, added:
“We achieved a lot on the day and KEMP Hospice were very grateful. We had great weather and it was a very satisfying experience.”

At VolkerLaser, we are proud to be a part of rewarding community initiatives like this one, and we look forward to working with KEMP Hospice again in the future.
