VolkerLaser helps out local RSPCA shelter
Some of the VolkerLaser team, based at the M5 ICCP project, recently spent two weeks helping out at a local RSPCA shelter.
The Holdings Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Worcester reached out to us in June to see if we could help create a hard-standing area for a steel store to be built upon.
After an initial visit to the site, a small team was mobilised to carry out a number of tasks over two weeks, including ground preparation and maintenance works, as well as creating some extra special furniture for some of the animals.
Kim Gale, one of the volunteers based at The Holdings, said: “Thank you so much for everything you have done for us. It would have taken years to achieve it on our own! Little Logan absolutely loves his scratching post, and any cat to get it after him will be very pleased too! It was an absolute pleasure to have met you all, you are superstars!!”
Adrian Barrington, senior project manager at Oldbury, said: “Having visited the site, it was quite evident the charity has worked hard over the years providing sanctuary to dogs, cats and rabbits with plans to extend to include a large kennel for dogs. The vast majority of the team are volunteers giving up much of their spare time to care for and try to re-home the animals that have had to be given up for various reasons. It was heartbreaking to be shown around the facility to see how many animals they were accommodating, and knowing that they have to turn away so many more.
“We sent a small team to Worcester to carry out various tasks under the watchful eye of Kim, who was a fantastic host and truly inspired the team by spending two weeks away from her stressful career to care for the animals, and keep tabs on us. The work we undertook has helped the team at Worcester, but it is a drop in the ocean when you look at what they have already achieved and plan to provide. It is a true reflection of the generosity from many donors, and the hard work of the team at the Holdings, but they always need our help.
“I’ve added the JustGiving page below for those who may want to donate any sum large or small. They’d also be interested in old blankets, animal toys, food or maybe you might be interested in helping out or adopting an animal. Please help if you can.”
