Successful completion of Ascot Road Bridge repairs

VolkerLaser has recently completed repair works on Ascot Road Bridge in Feltham on behalf of Hounslow Council.

The project began at the end of October 2023 and was completed mid-January 2025. The scope of work included concrete repairs to six piers and columns, installation of galvanic Xp4 anodes and 840cc sacrificial anodes to protect the structure from corrosion, and 40mm core drilling with reinforcement steel connections. During the process, additional repairs were identified, including 14 repairs on the piers and columns and 12 parapet repairs.

Before works commenced, the area beneath the bridge had to be cleared, as it had previously been used as an illegal fly-tipping site. VolkerLaser, in collaboration with a site clearance specialist (SSH) carried out the removal and segregation of waste, with trained colleagues ensuring the safe disposal of hazardous materials.

With over 2,200 vehicles using the road daily - many serving a bonded warehouse - the project was initially planned to involve a full road closure. However, to minimise disruption, we implemented a traffic management solution, maintaining a single-lane operation under temporary traffic lights.

The project was completed to schedule.

"The site team was a pleasure to deal with. Very knowledgeable and keen to assist throughout.”
