An eggs-tra special donation
Just before the Easter break, we organised an Easter egg collection for The Myriad Centre in Worcester.
Thanks to the generosity of the VolkerLaser team, we were able to collect a huge number of chocolate treats, as well as an £80 cash donation.
The Myriad Centre, established in 2007, is a charitable organisation, based in Worcester, providing high quality, person-centred day respite services to support young people living with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and their families/carers.
The donations were delivered by VolkerLaser representatives, Kelly Harding, Pete Weaver and Cory Langford, who got the opportunity to meet some of the young people at the centre, as well as the exceptional support team on site.
Kelly, head of CSR, marketing and communications for VolkerLaser, said: “Visiting The Myriad Centre today was a truly humbling experience. The young people who attend the centre are living with various disabilities but every single one of them had a huge welcoming smile for us, and some even gave out hugs.
"It was a pleasure to meet all of them and give them an Easter treat or two ahead of the bank holiday weekend. The team at Myriad do an incredible job; the compassion and caring nature of every staff member was clear to see, and the buoyant, cheerful atmosphere they create for their clients was fantastic to experience. Thank you to everyone at VolkerLaser who donated to the collection; it was much appreciated.”
Cheryl Johnson, fundraising and development manager for The Myriad Centre, said: “We are so grateful to everyone from VolkerLaser for their thoughtfulness and kindness – the Easter egg donations brought big smiles all round from the young people we support. The team took such a keen interest in our work and it’s great to see a company with a long association with Worcester being proactive in supporting their local community. Everything we do centres on bringing joy and fun into the lives of young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and VolkerLaser certainly helped us to do that today!”
