VolkerLaser's excellent workmanship at the Worcester High Rise project in St. John's has been recognised at the INCA Awards 2015; shortlisted within the Domestic Refurbishment - High Rise category.
Transforming the local community
The longstanding INCA Awards demonstrate the vital role for EWI in improving the energy efficiency of buildings, lifting households out of fuel poverty and transforming local communities. A record number of INCA members took the opportunity to enter the eight award categories, including a joint entry by VolkerLaser and Structherm.
Utilising a Structherm external wall insulation system,VolkerLaser were able to revamp the iconic high-rise buildings to give them a clean, modern look in keeping with Worcester’s skyline. New windows and lifts were also delivered as well as a new roof-level common room on the highest floor in Cripplegate House; the Sky Lounge, offering what has been described as "the best view in Worcester". Thermal performance has improved greatly with the U value of the walls dropping from 1.82W/m2K to 0.30W/m2K.
A high level of technical excellence
The judging panel, consisting of industry experts from AgilityECO, BBA, CITB, CoRE, DECC and EAE, singled out the high level of technical excellence achieved on the diverse range of projects which have helped to improve living standards and contributed to wider social benefits.
Chair of the judging panel Gearóid Lane, who is the CEO of AgilityECO, said:
“We were extremely impressed by the standard of entries this year which demonstrates the outstanding work being delivered by the EWI industry. INCA members are uniquely placed to deliver the highest quality standards for their clients and continue to use EWI to transform homes and businesses across the UK. The winners will be revealed at the black-tie INCA Awards Dinner 2015 on Thursday 8th October at the spectacular 8 Northumberland Avenue in central London. Now in its third year, the flagship event will showcase the EWI industry to around 300 guests from across the construction industry.
