VolkerLaser host half term exhibition and activity event for children
From Monday 4 April to Wednesday 13 April, VolkerLaser are exhibiting at Bristol City Council's Create Centre, inviting the community to learn about the refurbishment of Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge and the MetroBus scheme. We are also hosting a free half term activity afternoon for local children on 6 April from 2pm - 5pm.
Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge and the MetroBus scheme
MetroBus is a new express bus service that’s coming to the West of England region. MetroBus will fit in between local bus and rail travel, providing rapid and reliable journeys to destinations across the Bristol area. As part of the scheme, VolkerLaser are carrying out an extensive £3.2 million refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed Ashton Avenue Swing bridge.
MetroBus services will use the bridge when the works are finished. There will also be a track for pedestrians and cyclists connecting to a new path adjacent to the MetroBus guided busway to Long Ashton. This new path will provide a traffic-free route to the Festival Way cycle route and Bristol’s Harbourside area.
