The Alliance is formed of VolkerLaser and CRL, who worked in partnership to undertake the largest ever concrete repair project ever carried out in the UK. This involved essential repair work to the concrete decks, deck ends and cross-head beams on a 3.2km long elevated section on the M5 to the west of Birmingham.

The Concrete Society Awards celebrate excellence in concrete across the UK and the judges praised the Alliance for genuine collaboration and innovative methodology, as well as demonstrating how sharing lessons learnt and resources can lead to outstanding achievements.

Keith Barrow, regional director for VolkerLaser said: “This was an incredible project to be part of, with collaboration at every level being instrumental in making it such a success."

"We formed the Alliance arrangement with CRL to deliver this major project, and organised our supply chain in the same manner. This has never been done before in our sector of the industry, and this approach gave our customers surety of delivery on a project with an extraordinary resource demand. At Volkerlaser, we are delighted to have won this award for the second year in a row!”
